  • Rashmi, I believe it is the Oracle DB credentials that are to be used—specifically, the DB username and DB password. BUT, the software can seemingly get confused, and the error messages are often misleading or cryptic, perhaps intentionally, because after all, it is security after all. I'll let Gianni answer in case he…
  • Rashmi, saw this and just trying to help…this behavior would be totally consistent with the Oracle user having DBA privileges. It may be as simple as that. On a development box, I often have DBA privileges because it's just easier, but that gives my user access to all schemas. I suspect the behavior of being able to see…
  • Not able to join today's session happening now (Feb 20 at 9am MT). I registered, but then when clicking the link I get "invalid meeting id". I even went to the link on Analytics community site at Training & Support… - Oracle Analytics shown below. Did the session happen? Thanks.
  • Thanks, Greg, for your thoughts. I, too, have seen the load time increase over the years and I have clients that have complained. What I do NOT know is how much Oracle has really looked at improving the load time. I have not personally looked at the bytes that come down when an OAC workbook is loaded, nor have I seriously…
  • I just wanted to weigh in and agree with my two cents worth…I agree it's not the creation of an "OAC Lite", but rather some sort of "mode" that OAC is in. Whatever OAC is doing when starting up or loading a workbook just takes too long. Give us some sort of mode that turns off some the functionality that we don't need and…
  • Of course, AnDOUC is on your list, but in case there are lurkers that are looking for contact information, you can look us up at www.andouc.org. Thanks, all!
  • I agree with Branden. The lack of the ability to merge in data in some reasonable way really hampers our ability to use Save Data in a realistic production system. A blind "add new data to existing data" is usually ridiculous, except if we had a way to truncate the table ourselves and it could be used to retain all of the…
  • Indeed, Parameters have been in OAC for over a year. But be very specific about what you want to DO with parameters, as the functionality has been rolled out for about a year now. You can get a good sense of what you can do from the Oracle videos at . I filtered using keyword Parameter. Good luck!
  • Oracle, as you look at what DV *does not* do (that Classic does), this is an important feature. In general, the DV interface needs to be scrutinized to see how to get values into the clipboard and how to get values from the clipboard into DV, but this specific feature is indeed needed for prompts.
  • Gabby, I checked with the client and asked about the use case. Basically, it's similar to the use case for uploading Excel spreadsheets. The power user has data he has been using in Access for years and wants to combine it with data from OAS (in this case, specifically OAS (not OAC) with a 83MB .MDB file). From a user…
  • Thanks for the quick reaction, Gabby. I can ask the client directly what the use case is, but I believe the use case is basically the same as combining data with Excel. Agreed MS Access is generally a personal or departmental productivity tool. A user is looking at OAC data. That person says "hmmm...I wonder how that…
  • This came up in a recent customer implementation, so I feel compelled to argue for this enhancement request... OAC and DV in particular is marketed as an END-USER tool. I can kind of understand telling an IT department to set up a linked server via SQL Server (or maybe access via the RPD), but this is not a reasonable…
  • Thanks for the answers, Federico and Michal. It's good to get validation of my experience and helpful to see your list, Michal. I ran into Pravin, PM for Semantic Modeler at Oracle CloudWorld, and he confirmed that the export spreadsheet is not in the software yet (but planned). Oracle, if you are watching this, please do…
  • Thanks for the tip on a calculation containing a measure becomes a measure. I needed this because I want to subtract two datetimes to get the number of hours between. The only problem is that it became an attribute and I need it to be a measure. So, here's my formula: ("End Date & Time Date"-"Start Date & Time…
  • Thanks, Adam. Saw it before. Just getting around to thanking you for the change!
  • Thanks, Adam. Sorry to see the response. I suppose for now, I'll have to rely on coworkers for older versions. please do consider this for future versions. You *really* need this to support the consulting community, but you also need it for any serious development community. Or, just don't ever upgrade DVD
  • If the intent is to move dashboard creators to DV canvases, then you have to have this. So many dashboards were created with variables (all types) in mind. There were reasons for full support of variables and you need them in DV projects. Indeed, give us a reasonable way to see what variables exist and their current value.…
  • This is a silly omission. Should take someone minutes to code. Just do it. The new DV home has some nice capabilities, but I don't expect it's ever going to do what we need for classic dashboard/answers administration, so please just give us a way to get back to DV home from classic home instead of trying to remember which…
  • Folks, I ran across this thread. Realistically, I don't think we're going to get any updates on classic Answers/Dashboards. Yes, I know there are LOTS of good reasons for classic dashboards, but I'd like to see if anybody has created a "gap analysis" using classic OBIEE dashboards/Answers vs DV canvases as dashboards. This…
