Send emails to partners who referred contacts to us

I am wanting to send select emails to partner contacts who referred business to us.

For example, John is a financial advisor with a partner and he refers his client Matt to us for homeowners insurance. I would like to send a survey email to John asking him how his experience was with us.

Currently, in our CRM (Salesforce), John's name and email address live in fields on the Lead object for Matt. These get synched over to Eloqua and then live on Matt's contact record. So on Matt's contact record, there is the primary email address, which houses Matt's email address, and then the referred by field, which houses John's email address.

Is there any way for me, within a campaign, to send an email to John and not to Matt?

Or do I need to create a new CDO that houses all of John's info and then link it to Matt's contact record?

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you for reaching out to the community forum with your question.

It is not possible to send an Email to an alternate email address via the Contact mechanism, but it can be done via a CDO set via CDO Services or Program Builder.

Using CDO services, specifically the Processing Step(s) 'Send Email'. In the setup of that Processing Step, there is a configuration called 'Send Email To' where you will choose the CDO field which contains the alternate Email Address instead of sending to the Linked Contact.

Please be aware that using such flow, will not register activities in contacts, as above is done through a Custom Object and custom object records do not have activities.

Feel free to let us know if you need further clarification and assistance.

    Thanks

    Hi @Matthew Phillip ,

You could bring these records over as Eloqua Contacts and email them like any other Contact. You would want to think this through of course -- you may want additional information directly on these Contact records to easily tell them apart from others, and you may want to create a CDO that has the related Salesforce information of the original record(s) back to them. Also keep in mind these will use up more of your allotted Contacts.

CDO record services are slow and difficult to configure. Program Builder is also tricky to properly configure and run.
