No notification if previous task was completed using HDL

Summary:

We have a Journey that shows a task to the employee that some background processes are running.
This task is set to Complete using HDL when these processes have completed succesfully.
The task status is changed succesfully, but when the next task becomes active, no notification is sent to the employee.
Is this because HDL has updated the preceding task? Can this be fixed? If I complete the "Your request is being processed" task manually, the notification for "Check or download the confirmation letter" is triggered fine.
