Benefits: Suspend a plan if another plan is in suspended

I have a Child Supplimental plan that needs to be suspended if the main Employee Supplimental plan is suspended.

I'm having a hard time making this work during enrollment. I am using the ben_fn_get_char_value function to get ENROLLED status and SSPNDD_FLAG. But it seems that the BEN_PRTT_ENRT_RSLT doesnt really get updated until the user hits Submit.

For the Employee Supplimental plan we have 5 option levels. We only suspend the 4th an 5th level to require evidence of insuarability. Once they provide it, if they opt for it the next year it is waived. The FF works well there, but I'm unable to push that same logic into the Child Supplimental plan. That plan only has one level.
