Medical Plan Suspension When New Dependent Added to Existing Enrollment
Summary:
We have a requirement that any newly added dependent (outside of New Hire enrollment) must submit applicable documentation to validate the dependent relationship. These enrollments should be suspended until the documentation is reviewed and approved by an administrator.
During this review period, interim coverage should be applied to ensure the employee remains enrolled in their current coverage election until the dependent documentation is approved.
We have set up the configuration so that the certification configuration is on the designation requirements for the medical plan type. The documentation is mapped Birth Certificate is required for a child, and Marriage Certificate is required for the spouse. Interim coverage is also set up at the Medical plan type level, and have tried multiple different options.
