Open Enrollment not reprocessing on contact relationship update – but works on new contact creation
Hi Experts,
I have encountered a scenario during Open Enrollment (OE) and would appreciate guidance on expected system behavior and any recommended best practices.
Scenario
- Employee is in OE window and OE is already evaluated
Case 1 – Update existing contact
- Contact created as Emergency
- Later updated to Spouse/Child
👉 OE is not reprocessed
👉 Contact is not available for designation
Case 2 – Create new contact
- New contact created as Spouse/Child
👉 OE automatically reprocesses
👉 Contact is available for designation
Observation
- Updating existing contact does not trigger OE reprocessing
- Creating a new contact triggers OE reprocessing
Workaround
- Create new contact with correct relationship
- Delete old contact
