Help recovering missing OCI instance and existing boot volume

My OCI compute instance is no longer visible in the OCI Console dashboard or in the instance list when queried through the OCI CLI. However, its original boot volume still exists.

Original compute instance

  • The instance does not appear in the OCI Console dashboard or in the results of oci compute instance list.
  • Attempting to retrieve it using oci compute instance get returns NotAuthorizedOrNotFound (HTTP 404).

Existing boot volume

  • Name: name (Boot Volume)
  • Size: 200 GB
  • State: AVAILABLE
  • The volume is currently unattached.
  • No boot-volume backups were returned by the OCI CLI.

Recovery issue

Launching a replacement instance from the existing boot volume fails with the following error:

Howdy, Stranger!
