Report is opening a different workspace - not intended

Hi, 

I have created a grid report having joins of custom objects.

I have added this report in a tab using a report control.

When I click on Add new in this report, it opens a workspace which is from one of the joined object and not the one I expected.  

How it determines which workspace to open.

Based on what condition this is configured. 

Is it configurable from our end to change which workspace to open on click of Add New. 

Please guide me.
