Super Long Messy Link.. What did I miss

..I am setting up Tier 2 and 3 applications as well as the invitations that go with them.. But the noted code to drop into the copy for the link ( <<REQ_CWS_INVITE_AUTH_LINK>> ) is appearing in full form on the letters when sent (see below).. I did choose to craft the invitation in Plain Text.. Must it be in HTML to work?..

Help please.. This will be so useful for us - but not if it's this messy on the Candidate side..
