A non line manager role completing performance document in HCM Cloud

There are situations where a non-line manager worker needs to complete performance document s on behalf of the manager such as Executive Assistant helping the leader to complete reviews for their direct reports. Currently, we transfer the performance documents to the EA and have them complete it, however, they don't have a line manager role so they are unable to see my team evaluation tab and unable to find the document. We temporarily assign them the line manager role for the tab to be available.
Just wanted to see if there are other ways to do it as well. I believe assigning line manager is unnecessary.
