When does a manager's performance rating update an employee's talent profile?

In our performance template configuration, we have manager ratings updating the employee's person profile with the Supervisor instance qualifier. My client recently asked when this rating actually updates the profile. I ran some tests, and it appears that the profile is updated once the document is complete. However, is it possible to update the profile once the manager finishes their evaluation, but before the document closes?
