Employee is able to add anytime feedback to themselves when on the View/Request feedback page

We have an issue with Feedback in the new responsive UI - Employee is able to add Feedback to themselves and this is undesirable (and probably confusing to users). We have a response on an SR suggesting that this is working as intended as designed by the product team. 

I'd love to hear from anyone using the same functionality especially if you have a solution to this. I have tried a couple of ways to personalise that Add button so it is disabled if the Employee is adding for themselves but no luck so far.
