Internal Employee Applying for a Job

Hi Gurus,

When a internal employee applies for a job, his/her line manager should receive a FYI/ approval notification, can this be configured. Is this a standard functionality or do we have to setup anything to enable this. 

Any inputs/leads from previous experiences would be of great help.
