Is there away to change the dock filter to display the magnifying glass to search within a list?

We have a report that has a docked filter, but we have to scroll to select the right option.

However, if you click the Search from Ribbon, then you can type a keyword to bring back the option you are looking for, instead of scrolling through a list.

Can the docked filter do the same?  Please see my screen shots for examples.
