Approval workflow character limit

Is there a character limit to the approval workflow condition?

We have a very long condition for our approval rule for our performance document due to the large number of templates that we have.  I know there is a character limit for the approval rule condition in absence management, but am unsure of the character limit and if the same applies to performance management approval rules as well?
