Can you use default auto-approval and manual approval at the same time for performance goals?

Curious if you can have 2 different approval rules for 2 different goal plan at found at the same the system.

I have read in a recent whiteparer that The PerformanceGoalAutoApproval rule is the primary rule that captures all submitted goal plan transactions and determines if a transaction is automatically approved without any manual intervention.

However if we do chose to have manual intervention (e.g. line manager approval) just for one specific goal plan can we do that or if we activate manual approvals those will be applicable for all goal plans in my organisation?
