Performance - want to enable Advanced search when adding a competency

Summary

Adding a competency within the Performance document - there is no way to search

We have many competencies and although there is a type ahead suggested search - we would like to be able to search using the Advanced search but there does not appear to be any search on this field.  

 

Do I need to do something to enable the blue search hyperlink ?
