How to use a global segment validator (create "if...null" condition)

Hi everyone.

I created a flexfield in the "Additional Information" section available from the performance document. We would like to add a validation rule via global segment validator to ensure that managers fill in this flexfield (data type = number) prior to exit the section (regardless the choice : Save or Cancel)

We would like to configure global segment validator as such : if flexfield is null, then display the error message.

How do we configure validators? Do you have any reliable documentation?

See image for more details.

Thanks,

Fabrice
