Automatic Territory Assignment Options Besides Profile Option - Assignment Submission at Save Enable

We've recently experienced that the territory assignment assignment isn't running automatically with the opportunities. We had to manually trigger via 'Save & Run Assignment' button for it to work. I raised an SR for this and their recommendation is to set the profile option - Assignment Submission at Save Enabled - to yes. But the caveat is the 'Save & Run Assignment' button is being turned off when this profile option is set to Yes.

I was wondering how come we were able to run the territory assignment automatically and have the 'Save & Run Assignment' button before. Is there another way to enable the automatic territory assignment for opportunities?
