Help with performance calculated rating with 'n/a' items

Hello -

We have a list of 10 items for employees, which can be rated 1-5 with 5 being highest rating.

Then, if they are a manager role, they are rated on 4 additional items.  The last 4 items are throwing off the average for employees who are not managers.

Is it possible, to mark an item 'n/a' or leave blank and these 4 will not be included in the calculated ratings for employee only?  I was thinking approaching as fast formula but have no idea on how to create one.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jess
