21A Feature Question: Auto Performance Document Transfer to new manager

Our Performance Cycle is 1-Jul-20 to 30-Jun-21. We are planning to enable the 21A feature which is " Auto Performance Document Transfer to new Manager" that assigns the performance document to new manager automatically.

My question is that lets say the manager has not completed the evaluation of a person till 1-Jul-21 and then from 2nd July the manager changes, will the system Assign the performance document to the new manager because the hierarchy has changed irrespective of the plan cycle dates

Or it would still be with the old manager coz the old manager was the actual manager of the person in the previous performance cycle.
