Performance Document Comments

Comments weren't enabled on performance document this year but now they would like to provide an opportunity for employees to submit feedback/comments(if they desire)...this would be added to their employee file....would an "anytime document" be the only way to capture that feedback at this point? I assume we can't go back and modify their performance evaluation once completed/submitted...suggestions welcome
