There have been at least a couple of posts related to Position based Approvals. I thought it might be helpful, even if to a handful of support experts or customers, on some salient points to note relating to these approvals. I have culled this information out of some bugs that I analyzed recently.

Points to Note:

1. Task Escalations: 

Task escalations are not applicable to position based assignments. They apply only to user based assignments. Any task assigned to a position will expire after the deadline is reached. That is designed BPM behavior
