Reorder Values for both Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity for Apply Flow

We are finding that the list of values for both Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity are in a random order in the apply flow.  My understanding is that it would display in alphabetical order based on the meaning, but that is not the case.  Has anyone else found this and have been able to resolve?  I've checked MOS briefly, but can't find any guidance and adding sequence numbers also does not work.

Any experiences of resolving would be gratefully received
