Requirement To Separate Medical Info From Personnel File

During the November 19th "Embark on Journeys" Office Hours Session, several members of the audience asked for more information on the U.S. requirement to separate medical information from an employee's personnel file.

The best summary I've found comes from U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission: "What You Should Know About COVID-19 And The ADA The Rehabilitation Act, And Other EEO Laws". See https://www.eeoc.gov/wysk/what-you-should-know-about-covid-19-and-ada-rehabilitation-act-and-other-eeo-laws#B, Section B.1, which cites the Americans With Disabilities Act ("ADA") in stating:

The ADA requires that all medical information about a particular employee be stored separately from the employee's personnel file, thus limiting access to this
