I have a customer that would like to exclude the CFO from getting escalation notification. We tried using the "Higher Approver Title" option but that caused the workflow to error. I've tried researching what drives that title but found no documentation. Is it the job name or something else?

If it is indeed the job name and you'd like the CEO to not receive the notification would everyone that reports to the CEO need the job title of director? Currently, the customer has job titles that do not match this.
