How to drill down using a linked report when the parent report has date grouping output

How can I drill down to a linked report when the parent report contains data with date grouping applied and the drilled down data should only match the date grouping range from the parent row?

Content (required):

I have a report with a time filter (between) that has a column with a date_group() function and a column containing a sum() function. I want to drill down on the column with the sum() function using a linked report. 

When drilling down I only want to display the data that is in the same date range as that particular row.
