End dating individual element entries

how do I end date an element entry which is not attached to a benefit or the salary

We don't use the payroll module however I do have the payroll manager security role.

We have an element entry which is a regular earnings element given to people as an additional allowance for example if they are acting up in a more senior role for a period of time. However we are unable to add a future end date or edit the element to add an end date when the arrangement finishes.

How can I do this and do I require a different payroll role?
