Agency and Agent Creation Query

When creating an Agency and an Agent:

Originally i believe that when a agent was created for an Agency that the Agent's username was normally created automatically by the system using that agents Email address.

Now since 22B it seems like the system is automatically creating an Agent using the Agents Firstname.Lastname

Now has the process changed since 22B if so where is it mentioned?

if not do you think something has changed in our settings and if so how do we view
