Extending Duration of a Segment of Segementable Activity

Summary: We have setup our activities to have either 4 x 8hrs segments or 5 x 1hr segments. At times we have techs that may need more time to complete, let's say the 1st or 2nd segment of the above. We have given the techs the ability to adjust time of a given segment and when they extend using adjust time it steals time from the remaining segments of the activity. Is there not a way for techs to add time to a segment without adjusting or stealing time from remaining segments?
