Way to handle new life event interrupting the current wait period for a processed life event

Summary:

Currently we have a waiting period for benefits for a new hire life event. If during the time the waiting period is active, if an employee gets another life event, it interrupts the current waiting period and starts the new rate as of the new life event date (we have configured rate start date for the new event to be "event" and previous rate end to be "1 prior"

Any way to handle this so that the new rate and coverage would start after the waiting period for the new hire life event?

Howdy, Stranger!
