Where is the difference when we flag the "Required" property checkbox in a Performance Template?

Summary:

No difference in performance evaluation after selecting "Required" checkbox - Performance Template - Structure tab

Description: Whenever we select the checkbox "Required" in "properties" under the Structure tab in the Performance template we can't see any difference in the performance document or in the performance template. Why does it specifies "Select Required to add a check box to content items in the performance template that can be selected to prevent anyone from removing it from the performance document and limit ability to edit content" but then there are no difference? If I read the sentence it seems to grant me that no one should remove the content section, but then it's not what happens. We actually couldn't find any difference from two different templates (one with the flag, and one without). Is there an error, or maybe is there something we can do about to fix it?
