Make Payment Document in Create Payments a Mandatory Field

Summary:

Is there a way to make the Payment Document field mandatory in the Create Payments window? I have the field defaulting for our most common bank account (using the Payment Process Profile), but we're wondering if there is a way make the field required for when we use another bank account.

I tried making the field required in Sandbox, but the 'Required' checkbox and 'Show Required' are both greyed out. I have page composer selected. Is there another way to achieve this?
