How can we add the drop down option on 'ADD' similar to Family and Emergency contact?

Hello Everyone,

We are looking for a way to add the drop down options such as 'add existing person as a contact' this is crucial for below mentioned case:

"Not having this 'Add existing person as contact' functionality on people to cover is allowing us to create duplicate contacts with a new person ID generated, which is not right. There is no check available to identify the contact already exists in system and provides a restriction to create a new contact with same details."
