Getting an error to select an option on an automatic benefit

We have a Basic Life plan that every employee is eligible for based on a multiplier of their salary. This is an automatic benefit and the only participation that an employee has for it is to elect beneficiaries.

The error states that employee must "...select more options to enroll in this plan. Select at least 1 options. The plan type name is Basic Life."

Only a handful of employees have come across this issue here on the 3rd day of Open Enrollment.
