Transfer Journey: Is it possible to assign a task to the former line manager instead of the current?

we are facing the follwoing issue:

We have created a person type journey for the global transfer. After the transfer is approved in the system, HR manually assigns this journey to the transfered person. However, there is one task in this journey that needs to be done by the person's former line manager. The system assigns line manager tasks based on the current relationships. Is there a way to change the behavior for this task? Does anyone have experience with handling such a customer requirement? Is there a workaround?
