How to get rid of the value in Project Number field? After erasing the value sits back again in the field

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

Initially entered the value in project number field and then wiped it off and tabed out of it so to ger rid off other dependent fields but the value gets filled back again in Project number. Screenshots attached

After clearing the value it goes back to the same as in screenshot 1
