Field in 'Skills and Qualifications' page defaulting to a value

Hello-

There is a field in the Career Preferences content type (Skills and Qualifications page) that defaults to the '3 to 5 years' value whenever there is no data in it instead of showing blank. Any idea why it is doing that and know how to fix it? Please see the screenshots for details.
