How to deselect an option while making elections automatically as soon as another Option is chosen

Summary:

Scenario: While making benefit elections, despite setting option level restriction, system is allowing to select multiple options on screen (validation shows effect only AFTER Page tab out with continue button.

Ask is to not allow worker to select multiple options altogether while clicking itself (If Option 1 is selected, and worker attempts to click on Option 2, the formerly selected option 1 should get deselected automatically)
