Promotion life event not getting triggered

Summary:

I have created a custom life event to capture promotion of employees from B5 to B6 grade. Added the person change for per_all_assignment_m table with grade_id. But when I am updating the grade of employee from person management page from B5 to B6, this life event is not getting triggered. How to trigger this life event?
