Standard Process is to assign the requisition approval based on job level. An employee with job level below 30 can’t approve any requisition. An employee with job level 30 can approve up till $10000. An employee with job level 40 can approve up till $25000.

Business used Peoplesoft before. In Peoplesoft, Signature authority is a value associated with specific positions, and defines a purchase amount that a given individual has been empowered to approve. Signature authority can range from $1000 to an unlimited amount depending on the positions involved, typically manager and above. It allows for the authorization of equipment or supplies required for on-going business or health care associated activities. With customization, they were able to achieve exceptions to a standard routing.
