Can we pause task expiry on a journey?

We have a journey configured with some tasks set to expire earlier than anticipated. We have updated the journey, but in the meantime is there anything we can do with those individuals the journey was already assigned to? We tried manually reopening the expired task but the system closed it again the following evening. I thought there may be a scheduled process I can pause but searching through the scheduled processes I am not seeing anything.

Howdy, Stranger!
