Setup expire days in a journey's task

Summary:

We have setup a number of expiry days in a task journey but it seems to remain in open state still with overdue banner. The journey has been assigned/opened for 50+ days, our expiry day was set to 25 only. We are expecting it to be in a Complete state after x days from assigned date.

We have ran this process Process HR Checklist and Tasks without setting attributes. It ran successfully but the journeys are still in open state and with overdue banner.

What could be missing in implementing this?
