Turning off deductions for a Benefit plan

Summary:

We have an plan that is automatic eg: Basic Life; some special case employees can choose not to have the basic life as they dont want to get deductions in their payroll; However, we dont want the plan to be made explicit;

Is there a way we can turn off deductions manually in the system so that the deductions dont show up in the Elements for certain employees.
