why Life event configuration does not end date for the dependent ?

We have configured the life events(Death of Spouse, Death of Dependent, Divorce/Legal Separation etc) as per the user requirements, but when we run a life event out of any of the above mentioned, its end-dating the coverages and rates for the participant instead, and we need to end-date it only for the associated dependents.
