How to Validating email address for Customer Account

Summary:

Is there a way to validate data against what is entered in the email field to check if the data is in a valid format for an email.

for example, we are seeing data in the email field like this -

jenny@bobsfood

the above is not in valid email format because it is missing the .com or end of the email address. Is there a way to run a process to validate the data entered in that email field? Even though we enter the Numeric characters also allows the customer account communication email filed.
