Need info. on Person type customer

I need to understand if there are any major differences between Person type customer as compared to Organization type customer wrt. its definition and how it is used in subledgers like DOO and AR. Is there any diff. how a person type customer can be used in creating SO, AR invoice or AR receipt. In what scenarios, we normally use person type customers.
