How to default a value from the drop down filter in performance documents

How to default a value from the drop down filter in performance documents under me —>career and performance —>performance plan —>we have performance document area where there are 3 values - all, current and completed. I wanted to make the value default to current in that drop down. How to make it default to current and later if needed employee can select any values.
