Can Sender Email Address have different domain than the one specified as Virtual MTA (sub-domain)?

in Eloqua 2 comments

Hello

we have a Virtual MTA assigned but we would like to use a personal email address as Sender Email Address (and Sender Name alike) for a campaign.

When running a few tests:
-emails with Sender Email Address - name@companyDomain.com, does not land in company (outlook) inbox while they do for yahoo mail domain;
-emails with Sender Email Address - name@VMTAdomain (sub-domain) does land in company (outlook) inbox.

Global email defaults in Eloqua Help Center says following: "Default From Address: The default address for the sender. This must be a valid email address. For deliverability purposes, it is recommended that this email address has the same sub-domain as the bounceback address. You can change this default address and users can override this on an email by email basis using the email settings.

Howdy, Stranger!
