Is it possible to change the label of a required field by Custom Label?

Is it possible to change the label of a required field on Skills and qualification page by Custom Label on Profile Types page?

I tried to change the label on Skills and qualification page by entering some text in Custom Label field on Profile Types page

and found that any changes were not applied for the applicable field on Skills and qualification page.

It seems that Custom Labels doesn't work against required fields…
